a. Note:   1900 Census: Found the family living at 446 Pulaski in South Bend IN. St Joseph County, Portage Township. Jakub Mindykowski is 63 years old (He was born May 1837) He and Mary have been married 37 years. His family came to America in 1891 they have been here for 9 years and he has applied for his Naturization papers. He's a Day Laborer. He can read & write but he can't speak English. He owns his own home and it's mortgaged. Mary is 57 years old (she was born August 1842) She is the Mother of 10 children but only 8 are living. She can read but she can't write nor can she speak English. Julius their son is 35 years old (born July 1864) he's single, he's a wagon painter. He can read & write but he doesn't speak English. Andrez (Andrew) is 19 (born Nov 1890) he's single and he's a Carriage Painter..he can read, write and speak English. Teofila is 17 (born June 1892) She can read, write and speak English. Stanislaus (Stanley) is 14 (born September 1885) he can read, write and speak English. Also living with them is Jakob & Mary's son in law Ludwig Liwosz he's 28 years old (born October 1871) he is a widower he's from Austrian part of Poland, He came to America in 1888, Naturization papers applied for. He's a tailor and he can read, write and speak English. He has a son: Zygjmond ..he's a month old...and he is born in America. And another son in law lives in this house: John Nalczek he is 31 years old (born June 1864 he and Katarzyn (Daughter of Jakob and Mary) have been married for 13 years. They both came to America in 1891..living here 9 years. He's a Day Laborer. He can read, write but he can't speak English.
