Hannan of 61 Pioneer St., Dayton, Ohio. The Bible was very old and bore the date "1823" and "Stereotyped by D. & G. Bruce, Philadelphia, PA. Newspaper obituary of William Cox ( a copy without a date or newspaper name, sent to me in 1982 by Joseph H. Vance of Lombard, Illinois) OBITUARY--- William Cox was born in Bucks Co., Penn., Aug.2, 1818. He came to Ohio with his parents when about 18 years of age, and settled in Warren County. At an early age he joined the Christian church, later the Methodist church, and in 1866, when moving to Pyrmont, he became a member of the U.B. church. In 1890, he, with his family, moved to Salem (now Clayton, Ohio) and joined the U. B. church at this place and proved a faithful worker until his death. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Riley July 1, 1849. To them were born five children, namely, Richard Cox of Pyrmont; Emma Cox of Dayton; Alfred and Harrison Cox of Lewisburg; and Mrs. M.B. Hannan of Dayton. One year ago last July they, with their children, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends, celebrated their Golden wedding. After a brief illness, he died Jan. 17, 1901, aged 82 years, 5 months, and 15 days. He leaves a devoted wife, three sons, two daughters, three brothers, three sisters, twelve grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves a son in the West by his former wife. Funeral services were held Saturday in the U.B. church, and interment in the Pyrmont cemetery.
