Note: from an old newspaper account, titled Wednesday, November 3, 1976, Brookville, Ohio: Retired Principal from Brookville Dies Edith Cox, 88, beloved teacher and principal for many years at Brookville School, passed away last Saturday at the Otterbein Home, Lebanon, where she has lived the past few years. Miss Cox had been ill for some time. A graduate of Otterbein College in 1910, Miss Cox received her Master's Degree from Columbia University and taught school until her retirement in May of 1954. At the time of her retirement, she was principal of Brookville School and taught Latin in the high school. Miss Cox was a member of Community United Methodist Church, the Retired Teachers' Association, Clio Club of Brookville, and the Minerva Club of Lewisburg. Miss Cox never married and is survived by cousins and many friends and former students she cherished dearly.
