Note: from the Lincoln Sentinel, Sept.11, 1902, page 4: Beverly --- A son-in-law of Charles Goff, Mr. Hunt, has come from Colorado, to look for a location for a home. from the Lincoln Sentinel, Sept.25, 1902, page 1: Beverly --- Mr. Hunt has returned to Colorado to make his preparations for moving here on his farm next month. Lincoln County News, Jan.27, 1938: Beverly -- John Hunt died in Beloit Sunday. For many years he lived north of town. Recently he has lived in Beloit. Funeral was to have been here Wednesday. from the Lincoln Sentinel-Republican, Feb.24, 1938, page 8: John William Hunt born May 5, 1861, at Jacksonville, Ill. died at his home in Beloit, on Sunday, Jan.23, 1938, aged 76 years, eight months, and 18 days. He was married at Jacksonville, Ill. October 14, 1884, to Nettie V. Gough and came to Marysville, Kansas that same year. To this union twelve children were born, ten of whom with the widow are left to mourn his passing. The surviving children are: Alfred Vernon Hunt of Puyallup, Washington; Oliver Everet Hunt, Yakima, Washington; John William Hunt, Jr. of Salina; Amy J. Sudduth, Beloit; Reithel I. Percival, Beverly; Dora D. Sheets, Tescott; Charles Edward Hunt and Albert Owen Hunt of Beloit; Erma M. Thompson, Mankato; Beulah M. Magers, Puyallup, Washington. He also leaves 30 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, two sisters and two brothers, besides a number of nieces and nephews. The family home was for many years at Flagler, Colorado, where they homesteaded in 1888. In 1902, they moved near Beverly, where Mr. Hunt bought a farm and was an important worker in his neighborhood, serving as a member of the school board for several years and presiding as Justice of the Peace. In 1919 they moved to Beloit, which remained the family home and where he had been employed as a salesman. He was a true husband, a kind father, honest and honorable with his fellow men and goes to his final rest truly mourned. Short services were conducted by the Rev. Roy D. Plott, assisted by the Rev. L.S. Travin at the Raleigh and Grand Funeral Home in Beloit on Wednesday afternoon, January 26, and the remains were taken to Beverly, for services at the Methodist church with the Rev. Plott and Rev. Tarvin in charge. The remains were laid to rest in Beverly cemetery.
