Gough reports the arrival of a new girl at their house on Monday, August 1st. from the Minneapolis Messenger, Thursday, July 8, 1999, page 2: MABEL A. ELY Mabel Ann Ely, 94, died July 1, 1999 at the Minneapolis Good Samariatn Center. She was born July 30, 1904 at Beverly, to John W. and Helena Neiman Gough. She was a graduate of Frankfort High School and was married to a Missouri Pacific Railroad depot agent. She taught school at Burr Oak, was a deputy probate judge at Burr Oak, worked for many years for J.C. Penney at Mankato and Osborne, was a housemother at the Juvenile Correction Facility, Beloit, and was employed as a cashier in Salina before retiring to Johnstown Towers. She had several commendations for volunteer work with senior citizens in Salina before moving to Minneapolis. Survivors include numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews including Mable Hunt McFarlane, Beloit; Phyllis Hunt Brown, Minneapolis; and Martha Gough White, Topeka. A memorial service was held July 7 at the Good Samaritan Center. She had donated her body to the KU Medical Center. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Center.
