The deceased had spent her life in this community, where she was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Besides her husband, Eugene Gough of the home, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ted Walters, Manhattan; one son, Charles Gough, Manhattan; two grandchildren, Gilbert Gough of Kansas City and Cliff Walters, Manhattan; six grandchildren, Ruth, Helen, Johnny, and Bobby Gough, Kansas City; and Gail Ann and Jeff Walters, Manhattan; one brother, Henry Ferris, Frankfort and a number of other relatives, who have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.

from the Frankfort Index, December 23, 1954:
Sadie Gough, daughter of Wilt and Lydia Ferris, was born April 8, 1876, in Ohio. She passed away at the home of Mrs. A.H. Nuzman on December 5th, 1954, at the age of 78 years, 7 months, and 27 days.
Mrs. Gough had been in failing health for some time and became seriously ill the past week. She was made comfortable and given all the care that loving hands could give, but it was to no avail. She was uncomplaining, however, thruout(sic) her entire illness.
While a small girl of about six or seven years, she came to Frankfort along with her parents.
In 1897 she was united in marriage to Gene Gough, here in the city of Frankfort. She spent her entire life as a faithful wife and housekeeper for her family; and was known by everyone as a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved her children, her friends and her neighbors, and had a helping hand for everyone.
Preceding her in death were twin girls, who died in infancy at the age of 8 and 10 months.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Gene Gough, of the home; one daughter, Ruth Walters and one son Charles Gough, both of Manhattan; one brother, Henry Ferris of Frankfort; two grandsons, Gilbert Gough of Kansas City and Clifford Walters of Manhattan. There are six great-grandchildren: Ruth, Helen, Johnny and Bobby Gough; Gail Ann and Jeffrey Walters, besides numerous other relatives and many friends. She will be sadly missed in her home and community.
Funeral and burial services were held at Frankfort, with Rev. James E. Leach, pastor of the Frankfort Methodist church in charge.
