Note: Grandma Grace was a creative person. She knew how to tat (making a beautiful lace that trimmed hankies, pillow cases, etc.). She also crocheted. I believe for my 12th birthday she dressed a beautiful storybook-size doll with a sort of tissue dress tied together with blue yarn. I loved it. It sat on my bed until my baby brother got his hands on it pulling it apart just enough before I caught him to make it impossible to repair the dress. When Grandpa worked out in his tool shed (the former rabbit shed), Grandma had an old bell outside the backdoor that she would ring to bring him in to dinner. I think the bell was from an old school house; possibly the one where Grandma taught. She used to hang her clothes outside in the winter, as related by Arla. When they froze, she would bring them into the house and hang them to dry. Grandma had been a teacher before she married Grandpa Will. She received her diploma from the the Rusk County Normal School. (I need to look up the exact title) I never heard her tell stories about this however.
