3 SEP 1954, Clara City Herald C. J. Taatjes Family in Car Accident Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Taatjes and three of their children, Audrey, Myrna and Clarence Jr. were involved in an auto-truck accident last Monday morning as they were returning from a week's vacation in the northern part of the state. The accident happened near Wolverton, Minn., on trunk highway 75. The Taatjes family was traveling south when their car ran into a loaded gravel truck which was traveling west. The truck was driven by Martin Helgeson, Jr., of Colfax, No. Dak. The accident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. Monday, and the Taatjes family was taken to a hospital in Fargo by ambulance where their injuries were treated. Audrey and Junior were uninjured as was Myrna except for a black eye. Mr. Taatjes received three broken ribs and Mrs. Taatjes suffered a lacerated tongue and minor bruises on the head. Harold Taatjes went to Fargo on Tuesday morning to get his brother and family who were discharged from the hospital that morning. Mr. Taatjes said the gravel truck failed to stop for a "stop" sign, and that their car, a 1954 Ford, was a complete wreck.
