Note: Arkansas Gazette: Rice Farmer Drowns in Cache River, Special to the Gazette Brinkley, Oct 17. Jim McGarity aged about 50, a rice farmer near Lonoke, drown-
ed in Cache river at Brasfield today when the boat in which he and two compan-
ions were riding sank. Mr McGarity, his son-in-law and two companions went to
Brasfield early today to fish. The drowningt occurred south of the highway 70
bridge. The body remained in the water about 20 minutes. Resuscitation efforts
after an ambulance and artificial respirator were brought from Brinkley failed.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs Ralph Colclasure, Mrs Johnson and the Misses
Katherine and Maxine McGarity of Lonoke and Mrs Horace Wilson of Detroit, Mich.
The body is at the Berry Funeral Home.
