Some say that Richard is the father of William Rutldge. I have not been able to find any information as to the father of William Rutledge might be. The name Richard is not used at all in the children of William, his grandchildren, etc. I have researched Richard Rutledge and the birthdates that are listed list William C. Rutledge as having been born in 1804. The Bible Record on William Rutledge and children do not make Richard a possible parent. The Richard Rutledge group settled in Perry County, Alabama and some of the family ended up in Karnes County, Texas. For what it is worth my great grandfather, William Garrett Rutledge, grandson of William C. Rutledge told me that the Rutledge family in Karnes Co., Texas was not related to our Rutledge family.
