Note: !MARRIAGE: SF Call 7 Jun 1904 Miss Edith Larkey cannot question her popularity, for In spite of "97 degrees In the shade" Saturday, her friends bravely risked sunstroke to attend the "kitchen shower" given in her honor by Mrs. Elizabeth Dow Yorker. The lightest, thinnest gowns were fished out from trunks already packed for the summer fitting. The result was that everyone looked cool and pretty and added very effectively to a charming scene. The shower included many very nice as well as useful articles. In several Instances accompanied by good wishes expressed in original verse or some other quaint fashion. In the dining-room-which was a favorite place, because there one was served with delicious Ices and cooling drinks-the decoratlons were suggestive of the honored guest's little affaire du coeur. Strings of small red hearts were festooned from walls to the central chandelier and hung down over the rose - adorned table. Miss Larkey will become a bride on the 21st and her becoming white gown yesterday gave one an Idea of how pretty she will look in her wedding garb. Among the guests yesterday were Mrs. Gilbert Curtis. In a stunning champagne and blue gown; Mrs. E. L. Dow, Miss Dorothy Goodcell-who, by the way, Is herself to be a bride on the 23d-the Mlsses Gorrlll. Mrs: Allarde. Mrs. J. F. R. Webber and Miss Ethel Haas. Mrs. Yorker Is always a charming hostess and her hospitable efforts were ably seconded Saturday by her clever daughter. Miss Eva Yorker. They were assisted in receiving by Mrs. A. S. Miss Edith Larkey's on June 21st, will be the first and should be a pretty one. Miss Larkey has many girl and women friends and has been quite extensively entertained. The youngest daughter, Mrs. Aiken, is to be matron of honor for her sister. She was Miss Ora Larkey before her romantic marriage one year ago with a young medical student, not then out of college.
