Larkey, one of Oakland's most prominent physicians, and former resident of Contra Costa county, died Sunday night on an operating table at Fabiola Hospital after being found in his home, 1017 Ashmont avenue, in a serious condition. His decline in health traces back to the influenza epidemic last year. His work was so exhausting he suffered a collapse which prevented him ever since from engaging in active practice. Dr. Larkey was a leading member of the Alameda County Medical Association and of the Oakland Chamber of Commerce. He was a practicing physician in that city for thirty years. He was born in Contra Costa county and was graduated from the College of the Pacific in San Jose. His medical degree was received at Hahnemann Medical College of Philadelphia. The will of Dr. Alonzo Sanford Larkey, who died September 26 last, has been admitted to probate by Superior Judge E.C. Robinson, who also granted to the widow, Mrs. Anne J. Larkey, a family allowance of $1200 a month. The will, which was written 11 days before the testator's death and entirely in the handwriting of Dr. Larkey, left everything to the widow stating that she would make provision for the two sons, Sanford V. Larkey, 22, and Jefferson Larkey, 20, as well as Dr. Larkey's mother, Mrs. Martha E. Larkey. The estate has not been appraised as yet, but it is said to total about $225,000, mostly in stocks, bonds and other securities, though there was some real estate in Oakland and a few thousand dollars in life insurance. The family home at 1017 Ashmount, one of the show places of Oakland, is the separate property of Mrs. Larkey. The court found that the estate is amply able to pay the $1200 a month asked for, that the will was in his handwriting and that he was of sound mind when he made it. !PROBATE: Oakland Tribune, 7 Nov 1921 Article Title: Distribution Ordered of Larkey Estate Final distribution of the estate of Dr. Alonzo Sanford Larkey was ordered today by Superior Judge E.C.
