Note: OBITUARY FROM DAILY AMERICAN PAPER OF WEST FRANKFORT, IL 1966 JULIA COUNCIL, 97 RESIDENT 43 YEARS DIED TODAY Mrs. Julia Council, 97, widow of Nick Council, died early today at the home of her daughter Mrs. Hazel Peek, at DeKalb. Mrs. Council had resided in West Frankfort 43 years at 309 East Poplar street . She left nine years ago to make her home with her daughter in DeKalb. In addition to Mrs. Peek, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Joe Prince of McLeansboro; a son, John Council of Lakeland , Fla; two grandchildren who reside in this City, Mrs. John Henshaw and Harold Nipper, and five other grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. George Nipper and two sons preceded her in death. The body will lie in state after 7 P.M. Wednesday at Gholson funeral home at McLeansboro. Funeral arrangements today were incomplete awaiting arrival of the son. Notes by Mary Jo Glover(Nipper) great grand-daughter I remember Grandma Julia as a very Frail little woman who was blind as long as I knew her. Her eyes were completely white due to cataracts. When I was small, she lived alone on Poplar Street and did all her own cooking and cleaning. The house was always dark because she had no need to turn on lights. Mother, Hallie Nipper, told me stories of how she would bake Dad, O.H. Nipper, yellow cakes in her corn bread pan on top of the stove. She would have one hot and ready for him every day when he came home from school. She knew every member of the family by the sound of their foot steps and no one could slip up on her. Her house was spotless. I have pictures of her and Grandpa Nick.
