Broadway, Mishawaka, Indiana _____________________________________________ South Bend Tribune, 17 Oct 1967 [Transcribed verbatim by Professor K. M. Gillen]: Mrs. Viola E. Emmons, 64, of 618 W. Broadway, died at 11 a.m. Monday in Osteopathic Hospital, South Bend. She had been ill for several months. Mrs. Emmons was born Feb. 12, 1903 in Plymouth, and had lived most of her lifetime in Mishawaka coming here from Plymouth. As Viola E. Palmer she married Harry Landsberg and he died in 1948. She married Charles H. Emmons in Mishawaka, June 2, 1948. Mrs. Emmons had been employed by Bendix Corp., South Bend, for 16 years. Surviving are her husband; five sons, Robert Campbell, New York City; Russell Campbell, Toledo, Ohio; Donald Phafler, Indianapolis; George Landsberg, Osceola, and Lynn Landsberg, Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Mrs. Johnnie Woods, Mishawaka; two step-sons, Richard D. Emmons, Warsaw, Ind., and James C. Emmons, Mishawaka; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Russell Palmer, Grand Rapids, Mich., and three sisters, Mrs. Virgil De Mike and Mrs. Herbert Potts, South Bend, and Mrs. Elsie Jones, Plymouth. Friends may call in the Bubb Funeral Chapel after 7 p.m. today and until the funeral services there at 1 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Roy G. Hamman, D. D., pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Emmons attended the First Baptist Church.
