Della Landes
ANDERSON -- Della (Brooks) Landes, 96, Anderson, died Dec. 24, 1997, at Community Hospital after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 23, 1901, in Staten Island, N.Y., and moved to Anderson in 1916 when she was 15 years old. She was a homemaker. She was a member of West Cross Street Alliance Church for more than 75 years and a member of the Altruistic Home Econoomics Club and the Forever Young Club. She was a 1921Graduate of Anderson High School. Survivors include three sons and two daughter-in-laws, Charles W. and Charlotte Landes Jr., Donald E. Landes, and Philip and Marilyn Landes, all of Anderson; daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Richard Baxter of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren, Della Swain, Doris Allen, Diane McNew, Andy Landes, Jeff Baxter, Robin Blake, Timothy Landes, Stephen Landes, and Michelle Landes; sister-in-law, Edwina Kennedy of Fort Meyers, Fla.; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Landes; a brother, two sisters and a great-great-grandchild. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at West Cross Street Alliance Church with the Revs. Dan Westlund and Gene Bartmas, both of the church officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Sevice and one hour before services Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to West Cross Street Alliance Church.
