Note:   Her father's will decreed that after his death she should be raised by his sister, Mary O'Hara, but her mother took her to Scotland and it took a year of legal wrangling to have her returned to the States. She was a very amiable, loving girl by all accounts, and the only one who could tolerate John's wife Ann.
  She met her second husband while visiting her relatives in Scotland after William's untimely death.
