Notes
a. Note:   Re the grave of Mabel Gertrude Banks nee Brigden - I visited the cemetery, now called the Downs cemetery, in 1995 , there is no marker now but the grave is still there, just unmarked, there are new graves either side, they are YY1188 Garrell and YY1189 Goodman. Spoke to 'Michelle' in the office and she looked up the records, there is no record of there having been any gravestone for the grave.
According to oral history from Aunt Doris and from my sister Jill, Mabel Brigden was employed as a servant at a house in Brighton, possibly in Preston Road and Granfer - Charles Albert Banks used to deliver flowers to the house and that is how they met.

Mabel Gertrude's sister, Florence was a housekeeper, along the Old Shoreham Road, - Mrs Wiles was her name, she had a son called Jack possibly - Florence visited the shop when Doris was about 20/21 to say she was getting married again = moved to Pulborough possibly, somewhere with name like that anyway.
