a. Note:   Obit for Fred Goetsch from Maple City Column
  Mr. Frederich Goetsch died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Holst, after a lingering illness. Deceased was born in Freistadt, Wisconsin, 7 Oct. 1843. He was confirmed on the 28th day of March 1858, in the Lutheran Church. In 1867 he was married to Mary Schossow, and this union was blessed with 9 children, 7 boys and 2 girls, of which 2 boys and 1 girl preceded their parents in death.
  In 1916 the mother of this family died and was buried here in Maple City. Grandfather Goetsch moved from Freistadt to Random Lake, Wisc. And 32 years ago he with the family moved to Waltham, Minn. And of late years he made his home with his children at different places. The latter part of April was attached with a mild form of influenza which developed into bronchitis together with heart trouble which caused his death on the 11th day of August. He was 84 years, 10 months & 4 days of age at the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his death, one daughter, Mrs. Minnie Holst of Red Rock; William of Iron River Wisc; Joseph of Waltham; Otto of Dexter; John of Decorah, Ia. He was laid to rest Tuesday afternoon in the Lutheran cemetery here beside the remains of his wife.
