Note: 1.Mrs. Sofia Hoffman Dies; Funeral Friday. Austin [MN] Daily Herald 5/8/1934 p-9 c-7 Mrs. Sofia Christena Hoffman died at 11:10 last evening at her home, 405 North Fourth street, following an illness of three weeks. She was seventy-four years old. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 from her la home and at 2:30 at St. John's Lutheran Church, the Rev. W. F. Milbrath officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The body will be taken to her home this evening from the Schulte Funeral home. 2. Deaths Mrs. Sophia Hoffman. Mower County News, Austin, MN 5/10/1934 p-4 c-1 Mrs. Sophia Christena Hoffman died Monday evening [5/7/1934] at her ho 405 North Fourth street following a short illness. Mrs. Hoffman was seventy-[four] years old. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 from her home at at St. John's Lutheran church at 2:30. Burial will be made in Oakwood cemetery, the Rev. W. F. Milbrath officiating. 3. Obituary Mrs. Sophia Hoffman. Austin [MN] Daily Herald 5/15/1934 p-7 c-7,8 Mrs. Sophia Hoffman died May 7 at her home, 405 North Fourth stree following an illness of three weeks. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at her late home and at St. John's Lutheran church, Rev. W. F. Milbrath officiating. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery beside her husband. Christinna Wilmena Sophia Kruse was born December 29, 1859 in Freeport, Ill. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith when three months old and confirmed April 6, 1873. On March 16, 1881 she was married to Peter Hoffman. They made the home in Freeport, Ill., until the year 1883 when they came to Minnesota, locating in Sargeant, where they lived for five years. They then moved to the farm home near Dexter where they resided until eighteen years ago when they came to Austin. Mr. Hoffman died December 27, 1924 [1923]. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman and all survive their mother's death: Mrs. Minnie Goetsch of Blooming Prairie; George Hoffman of Dexter; Mrs Florence Hagen of Dexte Arthur Hoffman of Austin and Benjamin Hoffman of Dexter. There are also ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Hoffman will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her as she was always ready to aid where there was sickness or wherever she could lend a helping hand. Relatives from away who came to attend the funeral were Mrs. Rose Kruse, Mrs. Tracy Kruse and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kruse of Freeport, Ill. 4. Obituary Mrs. Sophia Hoffman. Mower County News, Austin, MN 5/24/1934 p-3 c-3,4 Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Mrs. Sophia Hoffman, well known, at the St. John's Lutheran church, her pastor, Rev. W. F. Milbrath conducting the services. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery beside her husband. Mrs. Hoffman had been ill for three weeks at her home, 405 North Fourth street and passed away last Monday [5/7/1934]. She was quite well considering her years until the last ye when the strength and vitality seemed to dim. Christina Wilmena Sophia Kruse was born in Freeport, Ill., December 29, 1859. Her baptism at three months and her confirmation on April 6, 1873 were in the Lutheran faith. On March 16, 1881 she married Peter Hoffman and to them five children were born and all are living. The husband and father died December 27, 1924 [1923]. The children are: Mrs. Minnie Goetsch, of Blooming Prairie; George Hoffman, and Mrs. Florence Hagen, Dexter; Arthur of the home; and Benjamin resides on a farm near Dexter. Ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren will remember a kind grandparent. Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman had resided in the place of her birth until 1883 when they came to Mower county, Minnesota, settling in the Sargeant community. After five years they moved to Dexter community where they built up a fine farm home and remained for some years until their removal to this city eighteen years ago. Mrs. Hoffman was able to maintain her own home, her health allowing that happiness until the last few weeks. Relatives who came from away were Mrs. Rose Kruse, Mrs. Tracy Kruse, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kruse, all of Freeport.
