a. Note:   Mattie was raised by a family named Francis and Mary Eaton in the villiage of Otsego, Allegan County, Michigan.
 After the death of her mother Mary Jane( Seymour) Brown Nelson Brown her Father left her behind when he left Michigan. He only took the boys with him, 1. Reason was she was still so young and he didint know how to raise a daughter by himself and felt she would be better of with the Eaton Family also because the Eaton's had no children and wanted to adopt Mattie.
 She went to live with Mr. and Mrs. Frank
 Eaton in Allegan, Kalamazoo County, Michigan the 15th of September 1869."
