a. Note:   160 acres from the government in 1890 for homesteading. His son Carl lived on this land with him to help him farm it in Manistique, Mich Doyle township. His wife Johanna and the rest of the children lived in town on Arbutus ave, in Manistique, Mich Schoolcraft county. 2 children are missing from the picture, their son Edward Steffensen..who died in 1896 in a Limestone quarry accident. Their daughter Mina Steffensen I cannot find. I have no information where she died or even lived.
