Order that Reuben Doughty and his son William be added to the List of Tithables in Shelbourne Parish. =========== Item 4 - FHL 0032349, page 160 Abraham Touch, Plaintiff } Reuben Doughty, Defendant } In Debt This day came the Plaintiff by his Attorney, And the Defendant altho solomnly called came not. It is therefore considered by the court that the last order herein be confirmed and that the Plaintiff recover against the said Defendant the sum of Eighteen Pounds twelve shillings and two pence in gold or silver the Debt in the Declaration mentioned, and his Cash by him in this behalf expended and the said Defendant in Mercy [?] but the Judgement to be discharged by the payment of Nine Pounds Six Shillings and One Pence with interest thereon after the rate of 5 [percent?] per annum to be computed from the 2nd day of March 1781 to the time of payment and the costs. ============ Item 5 -- FHL 0032350 May 16, 1788 Bodine vs Doughty & wife - James Bodine on evidence for Reuben Doughty and __________ wife against when Henry V. having attended court nine days orders that the said Reuben & wife pay him Two Hundred and Twenty Five Pounds of Tobacco for the [ ______? ]. ============= Item 6 - FHL 0032352, Book P 1792-1794, Page 139 June the 12th, 1793 COMMONWEALTH vs DOUGHTY - Reuben Doughty being bound by recognizance to appear here and answer the complaint of Charles Russell for a breach of the peace in resisting him in the execution of his office as constable appeared upon his recognizance in the sum of fifteen pounds and find two securities in the sum of seven pounds ten shillings each for his good behavior and pay the costs of his prosecution or be committed. Thereupon he with John Board and William Brooks his securities personally appeared in court and acknowledged themselves indebted to His Excellancy Lee Esquire of the Commonwealth of Virginia and his successors in trust for the use of the said Commonwealth in the sums abovementioned to be made and levyed of their and each of their goods and chattels, Land and tenements respectively tendered upon this condition that if the saidReuben Doughty shall be of good behavior toward all the good citizens of the Commonwealth for the space of twelve months and more especially towards the said Charles Russell at whose instance this recognizance is made then this recognizance to be void else to remain in full force and virtue. William Day is allowed seventy five pounds of tobacco he having attended this court three days as a witness for the Commonwealth against Reuben Doughty. ============= Item 7 - FHL 0032352, Book Q, Pages 77 and 78 At a Court Continued and Held for Loudoun County at the Courthouse thereof on January 13, 1795 Reuben Doughty who stands bound by recognizance to appear here this day to answer the complaint of Anthony Sambag againt him for a breach of the peace appeared accordingly whereupon the said Anthony and Reuben were freely heard. On consideration whereot it is ordered that the said Reuben Doughty give security or be committed to the custody of the sheriff of this county there to remain until he shall give security for his appearance at the next grand jury court to be held for this county then and there to answer an indictment to be preferred against him and that in the meantime he be of good behavior towards all the good citizens of this commonwealth particularly to the said Anthony Sambag and thereupon the said Reuben Doughty with John Brown and John Board of this county come into court and acknowledged themselves severally indebted to his Excellency Robert Brook Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth. The said Reuben Doughty in the sum of forty pounds and the said John Brown and John Board in the sum of twenty pounds each of their respective lands and tenements goods and chattels to be levied and to our said Commonwealth tendered.
