a. Note:   Illinois from Kentucky, they brought with them some of the finest horses their family had bred there, and with them to help were two slaves, a man and a woman, and their two children. The woman became homesick soon afterwards and returned to Kentucky to live with her family, but the man remained in Illinois and continued training and breeding the line he had worked with all his life.
 Jack and Sarah teamed up with the Hudson Burr horse farm in Cooksville, Illinois and farmed there, also. Ten children were born to them:
 Mary 1858 married William Murphy John - married Dolly, army career in Calvary, California Nannie - married Thomas Ray from Chicago Louellyn - married William Brown of Chicago Sally - Sarah - married George Heller of Bloomington Carrie - married Frank McFee of Indianapolis Otis - Doc - married Margaret Hudson Adrian - Finn- never married Ida Irene - married George Anderson of Bloomington Alice Minerva married Elick Richard Rockwell of Lexington Jack's parents were both doctors, Doc Hollingsworth married Kitty Wells whose physician father had taken her with him on buggy house calls to help, and she became known as the Lady Doctor in the horse-drawn buggy.
