Note: Obituary: "Instant Death in a Courtroom" (from The Daily Pantagraph, of Dec. 3, 1897, page 7, column 3) (Illinois) Mr. Thomas W. Rockwell dropped dead at 2 o'clock yesterday (Dec. 2, 1897) in Squire Weakley's courtroom while there as a defendant in a civil suit. His death was caused by heart attack, the sudden attack brought on, it is thought, by his excitement over the case in progress. He was subject to heart disease. S. J. Deitz and Co. of this city had brought suit upon a chattel loan mortgage upon a traction engine. The rights of property were being tried before Justice J. M. Weakley, and in the midst of the suit which Mr. Rockwell contested, Thomas Rockwell without warning of sickness, fell to the floor, and expired instantly. He was dead when those in the courtroom went to his assistance. Mr. Rockwell was 65 years old. He leaves a wife Angeline and six children, three sons and three daughters. He has been a resident of McLean County for twenty years, and for the past five years on a farm south of Lexington. He was a prominent farmer and business owner, operating a thriving sawmill one and one-half miles southeast of town, and he carried on an extensive threshing business." Barbee Delmar (twin) Dell - May 3, 1880-Dec. 11, 1946, m. Maggie Murphy Joseph infant son March 1870 The children were raised in Marshall, Il. and in Colfax, Il. where Thomas carved the stone decorations at the corner of the bank there on the square. They owned two lots there in 1890, Lot 19, block 3, tax $3.63. Lot 20, block 3, tax $6.10.
