Note: . He was formerly from Massachucettes. He became the first settler within the limits of Orwell Twp, building a 16'X24' pretentious ediface (cabin) with board floors and long shake shingles on April 1, 1817. The cabin was built in the southwest portion of the twp.Lot 4 Section 19. (See article from the Fry Scrapbook Collection Book #10 page 26 Geneva, OH Genealogical Society Library). 1818: Apollos' bother-in-law Solomon Chandler was the second settler, arriving as a young bachelor in 1818. 1820: OH FC Ashtabula County, Orwell Twp, Fairfield Community. Apollos & wife Mary Chandler Paine. Mary's father Joseph Chandler is living with the Paines. Mary's brother Joseph Jr & wife is shown 4 families away from the Paines. Solomon Bezailial Chandler, another brother of Mary's is living with the Joseph Jr family as a 24 year old batchelor. 1830: OH FC Ashtabula County, Orwell Twp, Orwell Town. Apollos & family is living 8 families away from his brother-in-law Joseph Chandler Jr's family. The family of Apollos was taken from the December 1958 Quarterly of the Ashtabula County Historical Society, and included in the Chadder Family page of the "Pioneer Women of the Western Reserve* Centennial Edition 1896".
