  1826: History of Ashtabula County, OH 1798-1878 Orwell Twp page 232: "At the organization of the township of Orwell in 1826, Lyman Richards was elected clerk, and Joseph Chandler, Alanson Spaulding, and Solomon Chandler were elected trustees. Joseph was also the road supervisor.
  1830: OH FC Ashtabula County, Orwell Twp, Orwell Town. Joseph Jr & wife Abigail and family are living 8 families away from brother-in-law Apollos & his family.

  1850: Info for the family of Joseph Jr & Abigail taken from 1850 OH FC Ashtabula Co.,District #18 Orwell Twp FHL #20207. Laborer Edward King (18yrs) b. England, was also a member of this house hold. Gates S. & Caroline Chandler are living next door with their 3 year old daughter Sarah. Joseph Jr's occupation shown on the 1850 FC was that of a farmer with land assessed at $6000. Joseph I Chandler & his wife Lorrilla and son Albert is living one family away from Joseph Jr. Also a farmer with land valued at $1500.
  1860: Joseph Jr. & Abigail are living next door to the Gates Chandler family.
  South Orwell Cemetery: Joseph's headstone is broken and unreadable lying on the ground next to the stone of his wife Abigail. Their children Eli and Isabella also have stones in this family plot Lot 40 E.
