Note: Katherine was a Baptist. Was taken care of by her nurse "Ella", who died 27 April 1907, aged 68 years, "a faithful servant". Ella is buried in the Allen-Sims family cemetery. Mrs. Kate Allen Sims Died Monday Morning Funeral of Prominent County Woman at Renfroe Tuesday Mrs. Kate Allen Sims, one of Talladega county's most cultured and intelligent women, a mother of a family that reflects her noble traits of character and womanhood, a delightful friend and companion to those who knew and loved her, died Monday morning at her country home at Renfroe. Funeral services will be conducted at Renfroe Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock with Rev. Frank G. Mullen, long time friend officiating. Mrs. Sims was the widow of the late Dr. Albert Gallatin, one of Alabama's most distinguished and honored physicians and her death will be deeply deplored by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. Mrs. Kate All Sims was born at Rome, GA on Mary 28, 1852. She was the daughter of Francis M. Allen and Margaret Porter Fannin. Her parents were both from near Madison, Morgan County, Georgia and were members of pioneer families of Georgia. At the time of her birth her father was in business at Rome, GA. He later moved to Talladega County, AL and settled near Hepzibah church. Later he built a home at Plantersville and moved there to educate his children. She there met Dr. Albert Gallatin Sims, who was born at Mardisville near there. On November 12, 1873, she married Dr. Sims at Oxford, Alabama and returned with him to Talladega county where she has lived continuously since that time. Dr. Sims died in 1910. Mrs. Sims was the mother of nine children, all of whom are now living except Mrs. Louise Sims Adams who died on September 7, 1926. Surviving her are the following children: Marion H. Sims, Henry P. Sims, Mrs. Katherine Wikle, Miss Margaret Sims, Miss Ruth Sims of Talladega, Dr. Albert C. Sims, Jr and Dr. J. Anthony Sims of Fairfield and Claude B. Sims of Centre, and Louise's son Redford, Meridan, MS. Note: Of Kate and Albert's children; 2 of sons were Doctors (Albert and Anthony) and 2 were Lawyer (Marion and Claude).
