  1920 Meade Co Census lists Joseph as a boarder, age 95. From Mary Alices' notes.
  The family, G B & Fannie Thompson, that Joseph boarded with had the following information. G.B was 52, Fannie-45, Samuel-22, Ollie-18, Essie-15, Mattie-12, Mabel-9, and G.B., Sr-93. Could be related with the children's names the same as Joseph's children and grandchildren. A Thompson was pallbearer at his funeral.
  Joseph enlisted in 6th KY Cavalry, Union Army on 18 Aug 1862 and was promoted from Pvt to Cpl on Oct 15, 1862. Joseph was wounded in action at Lafayette, Ga on June 24, 1864. The nature and location of wound is not stated. Joseph was reported missing in action on Dec 16, 1864 and was returned to his company on Jan 13, 1865.; was promoted from Cpl to Sgt in March of 1865.
  In 1860, there wre 2251 households in Hardin county. The population was 12, 626 whites 2530 slaves and 33 free men. 501 person owned slaves - 22% households. One hundred twenty-two owned 13 slaves, while sixty-seven owned 2. There were no large plantations.
  In the 1860 election with Abe Lincoln received a total of 6 votes out of 2091 caste in Hardin co.
