  It appears that after Carl Oscar Wallander came to America he changed his name to Charles Oscar Wallander, as that is the way it is listed in the 1880 census and other records in Nebraska. I have run a LDS and WorldConnectProject search on "Carl," "Oscar" and "Carl Oscar" Wallander but find none other than Charles O. Wallander.
  One church record in Sweden appears to name Oscar as "Oskar." Probably the same.
  At first, the age 24 on the 1880 census puts his birth around 1856 and not 1853 as per the Sweden parish records; however, several different parish records for various years do not list a Charles but only a Carl Oscar. There were other children born between 1851 and 1858 and this child would not have been missed.
