Note: N73 The evidence for this person is that he is listed in the 1930 census as being the brother of George D., and his marriage record gives his father as James, mother Mary. His marriage is incorrectly recored as James Isbister, age 20, (therefore born 1865) residence Boston, painter, born St. John N.B. father’s name James, mother’s name Mary, his first marriage, married by Rev. O.W. Waldren, Boston, to Ellen Griffen, residence Boston, age 20, born Roxbury, father John. mother Ellen, Married Sept 16, 1885 Note: The age is wrong for James S., and James S. was already married the year before and wife Mary Ellen, still alive. It suggests that there were 2 James Isbisters in Saint John, both with sons named James. who were painters! Fortunately, family search beta has the groom as Francis Isbister. There is no Francis Isbister living with James and Mary in the 1871 census even though would only have been age 6 then.. The 1930 census shows him to be the younger brother of George D., making him the son of James and Mary. It is not clear why he is not in the 1871 census with the rest of his family.
