Entered the service on 8 Feb 1865 at McArthur (Elk Twp, Vinton County Ohio) and was discharged 24 Oct 1865 in Columbus, Ohio due to illness (Rheumatism) contracted near Washington D.C. in Virginia. According to Civil War records he was 6'1" and had light skin, brown hair and blue eyes.
