Note: Listed as Margarite Sylva in the marriage book of 1852-1910 published by the Genealogy Society of Siskiyou County. Marriage License and Certificate lists her name as Margarite Clara Silva, age 16. Had a double wedding with her sister Sarah Clara, 18, and John Sousa Nunes. From Obit. in Yreka paper: MRS. JOSEPH ROSE DIED WEDNESDAY Mrs. Joseph Rose of Yreka died here yesterday afternoon after an illness. Monday she had an operation from which she was unable to rally. Mrs. Rose, who was Margaret Sylvia, was born in Hawkinsville nearly fifty years ago. She was married in 1894. She leaves besides a widower several children--Mrs. A. B. Allison and Charles, Joseph, Lucille, Margaret, Richard and Ronald, all of Yreka. An older daughter, Mrs. Marie Barbin, died two years ago. Brothers and sisters: Mrs. Anna Alves and Mrs. John Moons of Yreka. Mrs Marion Colwes of Oakland, Mrs. Minnie Magoffey and Mrs. Carrie Miller of San Francisco, Mrs. Kate Mooney of Roseville, Manual Sylvia of San Jose, and Frank and John Sylvia of Yreka. No arrangements for the funeral have been made to date. From different Obit. MRS. JOS. ROSE DIES AT GENERAL HOSPITAL Mrs. Margaret Rose, wife of Joseph Rose, who has lived for many years on Greenhorn, died at the hospital in this place last Wednesday. Mrs. Rose has been in poor health for some time, but none of her family realized she was in such a precarious condition. Mrs. Rose was a member of the Sylva family of Hawkensville, who were among the pioneers of the county. Besides her husband, she leaves a family of seven children, who live in Yreka, and a number of brothers and sisters, two of whom live in Yreka, Mrs John Nunes and Mrs. Anna Alves. The others live in different parts of California. Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 10 o'clock from St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father McNaboe officiating.
