Note: According to Margaret DALRYMPLE CAMPBELL, in a letter dated June 20, 1980: "...was injured as a young man in Scotland while playing soccer. He was hit on the head with a wet ball and he was stunned, couldn't talk for several days. My mother always blamed his creeping paralysis on that injury. Before I was in my teens he couldn't work at a regular job anymore. He had hay fever and asthma very bad too." ************************************************************************************************************ According to Margaret DALRYMPLE CAMPBELL in a phone conversation May 13, 2001: In about 1928, when she was about 6 years old, the family purchased a brand new house of brick in Detroit, added a garage and driveway, and yards and yards of topsoil to bring the back yard up to grade. Shortly thereafter Alexander went back to Scotland for a month long visit. He stayed not 1 month, but 6 months. While he was gone there was no income to pay the mortgage on the house and it was lost to the bank. Grace and the 3 children moved in with friends until Alexander came back. *************** From The Detroit News, 15 June, 1950, Section 2, page 66: "DEATH NOTICES DALRYMPLE--June 14.
