Note: William (Bill) Bauer was described by his brother, Frank, as a 'roamer'. He attended school in Uniontown, Pa. and was an excellent baseball player, playing semi-pro ball in the Uniontown area. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during WW I, serving from May 19, 1918 until February 21, 1919 as a private in Battery D, 2nd Field Artillery. He never married. He was living in a hotel at 511 E. 6th Street (room 703), Los Angeles, Cal., on Oct. 21, 1938, when he took his own life by jumping from the building.
