(Don't know whether this address is a hospital or a home). This information is from a photocopy of his Extract Entry of Birth. Robert's birth was registered on 27 Jun 1890, in Burntisland, by the Assistant Registrar, Robert Pittilo. Robert was baptised on 09 Jul 1890 by a J. S. Finlayson, Minister of Burntisland. Helen Maney Simpson, Robert's Mother, presented a small bible to Robert on his birthday, 11 June, 1912, which was for his journey to the United States that year. He arrived in New York, N.Y. on the S.S. Columbia, from Glasgow, on 30 June 1912. He served with the 2nd Battalion of the Canadian Machine Corps in France during World War I. He was discharged from the Canadian Army on 25 May 1919. On the 26th of May 1919, he was given a "PERMIT TO PROCEED TO THE UNITED STATES IN UNIFORM ON DISCHARGE OR ON LEAVE" permit. The Permit stated that he would be at '1316 N. Second Ave., Fort Dodge , Iowa' Dad was staying with a 'MacKensie' family while living there. Robert was a Mill Worker when he married Clara - from the Marriage Certificate. When Robert obtained his United States citizenship on 17 Feb 1937, the family was living at 3340 Grand Blanc Rd., Grand Blanc. MI. (?) Information from Dorothy Hooper Simpson; Is that a Family named Naismith, John and Ethel , (maybe Cousins of Dad) visited Dad while he lived on Grand Blanc Rd. Marjorie Ann Ayotte (Simpson) has dad's bible, which his mother had given him when he left Scotland. Clara gave Robert's bible (Presented on Roberts' birthday, 11 June, 1912, by his Mother, Helen Maney Simpson, for his journey to the United States that year) to her son, John Simpson, when Robert passed away. When John passed away in September, 1991. John's wife, Ann Elizabeth, then gave the bible to Marjorie Ann Ayotte (Simpson).) Robert passed away in McLaren General Hospital after a three week illnes of cancer while his family lived at 1505 Tacoma Street, Flint, Michigan. Robert is buried in Section O, along side his wife, Clara Juletta Simpson (Hudson), in Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Road, Flint, Michigan, 48504, telephone: 810-732-0260.
