ARTIBEE, Ellen M. - Of Swartz Creek { MI }, age 72, died Friday,
January 6, 1995 at Clio Convalescent Center. Funeral service will be
held 3 PM Monday, January 9, 1995 at the Swartz Creek Funeral Home, 1225
West Hill Road, Reverend Grant H. Wessel officiating. Burial in Sunset
Hills Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to the American
Lung Association. Visitation after 5 PM Sunday and 10 AM until the time
service on Monday at the funeral home. She was born in Flint, Michigan
on July 30, 1922. surviving are her daughter, Mary Beth Hammond and
husband Phil of Burnsville, Minnesota; 4 sisters, Dorothy Hooper of
Florida, Marge Ayotte, Marion Rodgers, Ann Simpson of East Tawas; 4
brothers, Richard Simpson, Jim Simpson, Ronald Simpson, Donald Simpson;
2 grandchildren, Amanda and Matt Hammond of Minnesota. { Ann Simpson is a sister-in-law }. Ellen is buried in Section 7, Lot 580, Grave 5 of
Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Road, Flint, Michigan, 48504,

Donald Allen Simpson and I spoke with cousin Helen Yexley (Simpson) by
telephone on 8 Feb 1995 (the first time that we had contacted her). We
stated that we were doing the John Simpson (of Scotland) Family Tree, and
requested information. She asked about Ellen, our sister, who had recently died in January this year. She said that Robert Stanley
Simpson, Ellen's father, wished to name Ellen after his mother, Helen
Maney. ( Evidently Robert mis-stated her name to the entering-authorities
or, quite possibly with his Scottish accent, dropped the 'H' when
pronouncing her name to them, or he knew his mother as 'Ellen',). - JTS,
