Notes

 California. Minnie's letter is in handwritten script. - Verbatim, JTS }
 Tacoma, Wash
 Dec 1, 1907
 Mrs. A. W. Angel,
 Los Angeles, Cal.
 Dear Sister and all,
 {Page 1}
 Received your card and
 pictures of your babies and
 was so glad to get them.
 The boys are just sweet as
 they can be. I would like
 to see them. You thought
 Clara looked like me, she
 doesn't not a bit she looks
 something like little Edie { Ellie ? - JTS }
 she is pretty but Mary is
 prettiest she is just a little
 {Page 2}
 picture. MaeBelle the
 baby looks like Oscars folks
 so does Johnny. the baby
 was home the 25th of March.
 I suppose you know all
 about her. I think I wrote maby the letter was lost.
 She was 8 mo old last mon -
 she creeps all over and
 is just starting to walk
 by chairs. I haven't heard
 from Mable for a long time.
 Oscars father is talking
 of coming out this month.
 I hope he comes. Would
 like to see someone from home.
 Mrs. Bowers was back in Otho
 about a month ago she says
 things are about the same as
 {Page 3}
 ever. It rained a good deal
 while she was there she
 said. So I expect the mud
 was a foot deep. I guess
 I told you about Oscars
 turning lathe he has learned
 drafting now, is drawing
 some plans now. I am
 going to send you some
 of his turning some time.
 We have had some cup
 he { turned burnt ? - JTS } they are
 awful pretty. What did
 you think of the house.
 We are living in our
 new house now it is just
 lovely. Has hot and cold water
 bath electric chandliers and
 [Page 4}
 everthing is so handy.
 I will draw you a picture
 of it. Oscar built 3 new houses this summer we
 rent our old one for 15 per
 mo. How are your folks
 getting along anyway. Do
 you like it there as much
 as ever. I am so well since
 I came here. I wouldn't
 like to leave here now.
 Archie Bowers house is nice
 it is nearly across the street
 from us. The baby has { cozied
 to hold ? - JTS } me now so I'll do some
 fine writting I suppose. Well did you eat plenty thanksgiving
 We had the foreman ( his wife and
 two children ) from the cabinet
 {Page 3}
 shop where Oscar works.
 babe is named after her.
 Their names are Crosley.
 They used to live in Oregon.
 They like it here better than down there. Well it is getting
 late and I want to do some
 more writting so will close
 for this time. Oh ! Clara
 started to school this term.
 Paul is in the 3 grade, Van
 is in the snd and Clara the first.
 Well good night write soon and tell me how you are all getting
 along.
 From your sister Minnie
 Address
 3015 So 12th St.
 Tacoma, Wn
 [Written obliquely across the top of the letter is:
 Oscar built 2 houses this last summer and one for Mrs. Charlie Bowers.
 Note: The child above, interpreted as Edie (or Ellie), has to be Oscar Van Hudson ! I believe Minnie refers to him as 'Van' in
 this letter. Oscar van was born on 27 July, 1899, and would make
 him to be about 8 years old at the time of this letter. The baby referred
 to in the phrase "She was 8 mo old last mon -she creeps all over and...."
 is their last born, Mae Belle. [ JTS. 22 Dec 1999].
