  Census Record: 1870 Census for Hazel Hill Twp., Johnson County, Missouri lists Elijah McCarty living in the Stephen Blevin's (Jr.) household. Date of census enumeration was 11 July 1870. Polly C. Blevins McCarty died in childbirth with Eli in February 1870. Her father was John Blevins and Stephen Blevins, Jr., was her uncle. Eli McCarty was being cared for in another household at the time this census was taken.
  Census Record: 1880 Census for Grover Twp., Johnson County, Missouri, lists Elijah McCarty as a 40-yr-old farmer and widower. Living with him is a son, Eli (age 10). Elijah's place of birth is given as Indiana; the places of birth for his father and mother are Kentucky and Tennessee(?) respectively. Eli's place of birth is given as Missouri.
  Newspaper obituary: Elijah McCarty died at age of 89 in Hinton, Oklahoma. Copy of obituary in possession of Clifton Barber.
