Hancock, who passed away in the Perryton Hospital early Thursday morning after a two week illness. Rev Leon Berry, pastor, was in charge of the services with Mrs. Carl Ellis, Mrs. Bernard Leslie, Jas E. Barbour and Rufus Bolerjack giving the son selection: "Nearer My God To Thee" "The Old Rugged Cross" Mrs. A.K. Wilson was at the piano. Interment was in the Ochiltree Cemetery. The flower bearers and Pall bearers, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Mrs. Hancock, were Mrs. R.L. Flowers, Mrs. James Flowers, Mrs. Jack Slavin, Mrs. Lucille Palmer, R. L. Flowers, James Flowers, Bryant Flowers, Willard Hancock, Jodie Hancock, and Jack Slavin." Obituary: "Laura McCarty was born 16 May 1858 to Mr. and Mrs. Bryant McCarty in the state of Mississippi. Later she moved with her parents to Hill County, Texas where she resided until her marriage on 14 Feb 1876 to J.J. Hancock of St. Jo, Texas. Eight children were born to this union. The Hancock family moved from St. Jo to the Indian Territory and from there to Ochiltree County in 1912. Settling on a Ranch in the Southern part of the County, where they continued to make their home. Mrs. Hancock became a member of the Christian church in 1895. Having come to this county in the early day when neighbors were dependent upon each other, she proved to be one who was very good in helping with the sick and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She departed this life 4 Apr 1940 at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 19 days. She was active and able to do her work until she became ill a few days before her death. Survivors are six children Johnny Hancock and Mrs. Retta Bryant of Perryton, Joe Hancock, Nacona, Texas, Mrs. Olah Bryant, Shattuck, Okla. Mrs. Beedie Allred, Wilson, Okla. and Walter Hancock, Vinita, Okla, Twenty grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a host of friends.
