Note: Hubert (also known as Gilbert) Deriger dit Plante sons dropped the "Deriger dit" of the last name and began to use just "Plante" around 1855. (source=Just Folks by Eleanor Gignac, February 26, 1992, Amherstburg Echo Newspaper, Marsh Collection Society) At the time of Hubert's death his surviving children with his second wife Angelique Drouillard were Mrs. Henry Bouffard of Kansas City, Mrs. Richard DeLisle of Malden, Basil, Henry, Louis, Mrs. H.L. Drouillard, Mrs. Alfred Pillon, Mrs. Joseph Dicaire, Zoe, Anthony, Gilbert, Emma. (source; Marsh Collection, Plante file) In an article in the Amherstburg Echo, Just Folks by Eleanor Gignac, Oct. 26, 1988, Hubert is named Trustee for a new school to be built on the east end of the Pike Road. His obituary suggests that he moved to Colchester about 1848. Last name spelled Deriegea in the 1881 Census on LDS Disc #1.
