Note: On George's (his son) application for funds signed July 27, 1907, he lists his father's death date as August 21st, 1904. {My Heritage family tree of seymour_t Web Site lists death as Aug 4, 1904 and birth in Ireland. in 1840. 1850 Census record lists his name as Milton W. McCullough. I am using this name to find his parents and siblings. The date is the same and the location is the same as other sources. His name is spelled Melton in the Footnote transcription of the 1900 U.S. Census. The 1850 census lists him living with his siblings and a mother who has remarried and is living in the household of In my search for the father of Milton H., I came across the following: McLean.ilgenweb.net/cemeteries/mccoll.html has a record of a McCollough Cemetery in Dry Grove Twp., McLean County, Il. Transcribed and copyrighted by Tammy Moeller. It has William Mccollough - 1756-1832 (page 48-Vol. 8 - Dry Grove Township) and John McCollough --_____-1849 -- (pg. 48-Vol 8-Dry Grove Township). On the 1900 Census, Milton has been married 32 years. and Joseph H., Charles Henry, and Bulah M. McCullaugh are all in the household along with the wife Rachel J. The 1900 U.S. Census taken in Township 26, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory has transcribed his name as Melton Mc Cullough. The scan I looked at was smudged badly, but his name looked to me like it started with an "Mi". Parents of 9 children and only 8 living. On 1850 Census he is listed as Milton W. McCullough, age 10, born in Illinois. Sarah F. McCullough is age 1 so Milton's dad must have died sometime the previous year in order to have a 1 year old with his last name and with his mother Hettie. Milton's mother, Hettie had an older brother named Howard and her dad was named Milton Howard Williams. I have transcripts of records of marriages on Indian lands between whites and Indians in which he is listed. other record of him being married in Indian Territory. On the 1880 Cherokee Nation Census taken in the Delaware district of Oklahoma, I found the McCollough, M.H. (#4007) family. He is a married farmer. A White at age 39. Wife Rachel J - N Cher age 33, #4007. John W. age 10 # 93; William P. age 8, # 4000; Peter, age 7, # 5357; James F. age 6, #59; George E., age 2, # 3111; Joseph H., age 8 m., # 3678. All the children's race is listed as N cher. On the 1890 Cherokee nation census taken in the Delaware District of Oklahoma I find M.H. McCoulough, A White at age 49 & occupation of Stock Raiser. ; wife Jane, N Cher, age 44; William, age 19; Peter, age 17; James, age 16, George, age 12; Joseph, age 10; Nannie, age 8, and Charlie, age 7. Jane and all the McCoulough children are listed as race: N Cher.
