Notes
a. Note:   1880 U.S. Census film NARA T9-0038 Page 426 C entry # 1236 , Film 254038, Lists S.H. Mayfield age 53 and a farmer, living in Bright Water, Benton, Arkansas. Himself and his father were born in Tennessee. His mother was born in S. Carolina. This census lists 6 children: Lizzie T., James, William, Stanwix, Nora L. and Clement. Stanwix is probably the same as Wix C. (or G) given in the 1970 Census.
According to Benton County atlas he had 7 children and was born in Tennessee. In 12 Sept 1858 he purchased a house in Lee Town from Martha Lee and her step son George S. Lee. Deed recorded 8 may 1860. In the 1860 Benton County Census, Martha Lee lives in the next family residence on the census form.
The 1860 ( 3 July 1860) U.S. Census for Sugarcreek township shows Slave Schedule for MAYFIELD, S.H. and lists slaves: 1 Male age 21 color M, 1 female age 18, color B, 1 female age 11 color B, and 1 male age 10 color B. It lists 1 house.
I did have Tempie Mayfied as a daughter of Stanbury, but I determined that she is a cousin born in 1855 in Benton Co., Arkansas., before
Stanbury's marriage. She was on a census with the family I think. Have to check on this.
1930 Census at Brightwater, Benton, Arkansas, District 7 his son James lists South Carolina as his father's birthdate Mayfield's record.
