a. Continued:   He graduated in medicine from N.Y. Univ. in 1856, was a surgeon in N. Y. City and Morristown, NJ until 1867, and again after 1885 in New York. From 1869 to 1885 he owned "Oak Hill" near Aldie, VA, which had been the home of President James Monroe in the 1820's. In Virginia, Dr. Quinby was a full - time
 farmer, and acquired another plantation near St. Augustine, Florida as a winter place. His Aldie home was a three-story brick structure with Grecian facade and 30-foot Doric columns. As of 1880, he was listed with 16 resident household employees. Dr. Quinby's last home was on 55th street in New York. Mary G. Sneden Quinby moved to California after his death.
