Title: Sweden, church records, 1500-1937 Page: Kopparberg, Orsa, Dd (Deaths), 1796-1805 (FI:3), page 86 [image 49 of 193]; GID 161.103.77100 Note: Genom vda kvft av modren i smnen = through hazard (carelessness?) suffocated by the mother while sleeping. Certainly this must have happened sometimes, sleeping as people did in communal beds, but it is far more likely that babies died, at the time inexplicably, of allergies, undetected heart conditions or strokes, any number of then-unknown conditions, or simply by what we now call Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. To blame it on the mother is a heart-breaking burden. Publication: Ancestry.com, |
