Notes
a. Note:   s a charter member of the Pleasant Hill United Baptist Church in Ste Genevieve County MO which was established in August 1870. George joined the Union Army during the Civil War and was wounded in the left elbow at the battle at Pilot Knob in Iron Co MO, 27/28 Sep 1864. His niece's husband William Curtis BALLARD also fought in this battle as a Confederate. When George moved to Texas in the 1870's his older children, Mary Ann and Elisha, apparently did not move with him, but his other 4 sons did. Besides George and his sons, there was his second wife, Louisa Jane, their daughter Maria, and Louisa's 2 children M.E. BENNETT and Cornelius BENNETT.
Mrs Mary HUTCHESON of Weatherford, Parker Co TX, remembers as a child seeing a picture of 2 elderly men with long flowing white bears, each holding a young child. She remembers this as being a picture of her Great-Grandfather George BOYD and his brother, but does not remember the brother's name and has no idea what happened to the picture.
George's great-great-grandson, Jim Bob HUTCHESON of Austin TX has done research on his line, and has provided much of the information on George's descendants in Texas.
