Note: Hulings are of Huguenottish extraction. They fled from religious persecution in French Flanders and settled in Taunton, England where they prospered and acquired estates. They resisted taxation for the purposes of founding a colonizing Pennsylvania by William Penn and were arrested. One brother was killed, another exiled in the West Indies. After years of exile, they made it to the colonies and settled in Wilkes, Georgia. This article was found in RootsWeb's World Connect Project: a tree by the name of Arden Mays Merckle Project James was a Revolutionary War soldier from Rocking ham Co., Virginia, thought to be of Welsh descent. In 1792 he gave a deed in Wilkes Co., Georgia along with Catherine Rambo of Rockingham Co., Virginia. This Catherine is believed to be the mother of James Huling --Catherine Mannson who later married Jacob Rambo--Jul 19, 1790 in Rockingham, Virginia. Jan 24, 1823, Petition of Elizabeth Huling, Catherine Toombs, Eliza Huling and Isham Branham to divide the personal estate of James Huling, dec'd. according to his will. Mrs. Frances G.
