Note: Lived with his aunts so that he may attend Berkeley High School. Active sailor while in school. He and his friends made headlines in the paper once when their boat was blown in a storm from Berkeley to Richmond. A letter to his parents in Burney explained his side of it. Moved to Marin County during World War II to work in the shipyards. Worked as an electrician. Was active in the Internation Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Marin Mineral Society, Marin Heart Assoviation, and various Masonic lodges. He ran for State Sentator in 1960.
