a. Note:   In 1860, David listed his personal estate at 30 dollars, and in 1870, 400 dollars.
  David married Margaret sometime before 1851. In the 1860 census, David was residing in Union County, Indiana, which lies on the Ohio border in the southeastern part of the state. Sometime before 1864, David moved to Illinois where their 6th child was born.
 By 1870, David was living in Muscatine County, Iowa and moved to Pottawattamie County by 1880.
  David's headstone incorrectly gives his death at 31 Sep 1886, age 65. The Pottawattamie County death register shows David died on 30 Sep 1886 at 67 years, 7 months, 9 days.
Note:   Born in Ireland, David probably immigrated during the Irish potato famine
