Aftermath of the Sad Tragedy of Last Week in Our Little City
John McFadden who died as a result of the injuries recieved on Wednseday of last week was laid to rest in the Catholic cememtery at Hartington on Saturday Morning. The remains were taken to Hartington early Saturday morning in charge of the Knights of Columbusof which deceased was a member, the funeral being held at the Hartington Catholic church by Father Schmattgen.
The wife and children as well as the aged father and mother and other relatives have the sincere sympathy of the people of this community in their especially sad bereavement. John McFadden was a kind husband and father and industrious worker. The Tribune desires to state that he was not of a quarrelsome disposition, and that he had probably been drinking some at the time of the unfortunate accident, bystanders who saw him and talked with him previous to the occurrence say that he was not intoxicated.
H.E. Walton who struck the blow that felled him to the floor and resulted in his death has expressed great remorse for the occurrence and says that he had no intention of seriously hurting his victim. Walton was in an exceedingly precarious nervous condition for several days following McFadden's death being unconsious at times and the doctors in attendance expressed grave doubt for his recovery. At this writing his condition has greatly improved. The Tribute understands that John McFadden carried a $3000 policy of insurance in the Ancient Order of United Workmen payable to his wife.
