Her father was a Jewish pack peddlar; her mother died when she was small, and her father's second wife did not want the child. Mary was not listed with the Riders in the 1855 state census. Her marriage license to John Bradford lists the Riders as her parents. Her death certificate says her parents are Isared (Israel) Rosenberg and Caroline Hoffman. The birth certificate of her son Earl says her name was Mary Rosenberg
